Watched another show on vcd yesterday. That took me three hours past my bedtime :( Imagine, me sleeping at one am, and having to come to work today! Oh um... actually not that difficult to imagine if you've been around me when i was in gippy :p
The show was called "The Classic". A korean love story, yes you guessed it, another tragic love story. The director was the director of "A Sassy Girl". The vcd had a mandarin title on it, but i can't remember it.
The movie began with Jin Hee, a congressman's daughter and Jun Ha, a country bumpkin or something like dat. When they met initally, Jin Hee asked Jun Ha to take her to a haunted house across a river.
When they were gonna return home, a heavy rain swept their boat to the middle of the river. And it was kind of brainless to jump into the river to swim to get the boat, since the water current was very strong with the rain and all. The couple became stranded on the other side of the bank.
They were running for cover from the rain and Jin Hee sprained her ankle. Jun Ha then carried Jin Hee all around. Jun Ha caught a firefly and gave to Jin Hee. When the rained stopped and they recovered their boat and were returning to the residential bank of the river, Jin Hee gave Jun Ha her necklace saying, "Today, u carried me around and gave me a firefly. I've nothing to give you except for this necklace."
When they returned, Jin Hee's grandpa slapped Jun Ha before going home. That's right, he deserved it. Fancy him running away with someone's qian(1) jin(1) (literal translation: thousand gold) and getting themselves stranded in some ulu place. Anyway, the couple fell in love from that day onwards.
The firefly, as a token of love, does become rather metaphorical. I wonder if the firefly is still alive.
Anyway, in comes Tae Soo, good friend of Jun Ha. Tae Soo's father wanted him to chase Jin Hee. Tae Soo then asked Jun Ha to help him write letters to Jin Hee. But Tae Soo eventually knew that Jin Hee and Jun Ha loved each other alot and decided to take a step back. But his father became very angry and used a belt to whip Tae Soo. Not able to handle the trauma, Tae Soo tried to hang himself.
Fortunately Tae Soo didn't die. Jun Ha became so devastated that he decided to leave Jin Hee, and sign on the army. Join the army! During a battle, Jun Ha got shelled by artillery. It's funny how hardy people are on this show. Anyway, Jun Ha survived the shell but got blinded.
Now speaking of being blinded, i do recall a korean mtv that had a girl and a guy in it. The guy was a photographer, with his own dark room for developing photographs. One day the photographer became careless and left a bottle of acid unsealed somewhere. I have absolutely no knowledge about photograph development, so i won't know whether that acid thingy is relevant anot.
Anyway, the girl went into the dark room later and the acid fell onto her face. The acid was dilute enough not to scar the face, but concentrated enough to blind her eyes. The photographer then um... donated his eyes to the girl. The mtv ended with the girl seeing the blind photographer and cried.
So i was wondering if that was actually an entire movie or just a mtv. If it is a movie, can anyone tell me what the movie name is so i could look for it?
Back to The Classic. Jun Ha then met up with Jin Hee. Jun Ha then went like, "Why aren't you married? I'm already married." Don't think Jin Hee replied to that question though. Since Jun Ha was married liao, Jin Hee then got married with Tae Soo, eventually. But sometime later, a group of three MIB (men in black) approach Jin Hee to inform her that Jun Ha had passed away. They went like, "Actually, he got married only after you got married." *sigh*
