Donald Duck: Persectued and Discriminated

Was chatting with Yinyin when the topic of Donald Duck came up. And that's an ugly can of worms from me, since few people see it the way i do. But the truth is, Donald Duck never really did got his break at being a cartoon character.

As a cartoon, Donald Duck was always persecuted and discriminated. It didn't matter if Donald Duck was in the right or wrong. Bees, rats, dogs, all take turns to bully Donald Duck, steal his food, interupt his sleep, spoil his party, make him lose his fishing catch, etc etc, episode after episode. The episodes where Donald Duck gets some reprieve are rare and far between. As a cartoon for children, i think it doesn't have a very nice moral message.

The only real break, the cast as a good guy, for Donald Duck was with the appearance of his uncle Scrooge McDuck and his three grown up nephews. Donald Duck, at that time, had taken to sailing and shows up to rescue his nephews when they get themselves into troubles which have no other means of escape.

But by then, Donald Duck had become a side cast, a guest appearing in Scrooge McDuck and the three boys' show.
